Scott Miller of Nicklaus Design led the 2012 redesign of the David Gutiérrez course. The work updated bunkering, green complexes, and fairway contouring to current tour standards while preserving the original routing through the property’s mature trees. The result is a course that plays as a modern test without losing the parkland character of the original.
How It Plays
At Sabana altitude (~2,600 m), expect the standard 10–15% distance gain. The 7,562-yard championship length is substantial — at altitude that effectively plays as 6,500–6,800 yards, but the tighter modern conditioning means missing fairways carries a real penalty. Practice facilities are among the most extensive in Bogotá, making Los Lagartos a strong option for a warm-up day before a tournament round elsewhere.

Los Lagartos sits within Bogotá’s metropolitan area, closer to the city than the northern Sabana cluster — making it one of the more accessible private clubs for golfers staying in central Bogotá. From El Dorado International Airport (BOG), allow 30–45 minutes depending on traffic.
